Ivorygates mentioned kazbaby's praise your favorite writer week (http://kazbaby.dreamwidth.org/725888.html). So I just figured I'd put my two cents in:
Lisa Roquin (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/lisaroquin_fic/)
Lisa was the writer who turned me on to Stargate fan fic. It's funny because without Harry Potter, which I picked up the paperbacks on a whim shortly before book 5 came out (and only because they were super cheap!), I kinda doubt I would have stumbled upon fanfiction. Lisa's incomplete, but still awesome, Hogwarts Apprentices Verse, brought her to my attention. Then I read her Year in the Life verse...and I was hooked on Buffy and Stargate. She's the one who turned me on to Atlantis (I swore when the show started that I wouldn't watch some spinoff when I'd stopped being very interested in the original.) and to RPS (which still kinda squicks me when I think about it, so I don't). Lisa writes quality fic, and long stories. I love going over to her journal and seeing something new & I've read almost all of her stories at least twice.
Kiera Marcos (http://keiramarcos.wordpress.com/)
I read the first story of her What Might Have Been verse on wraithbait and absolutely loved it. When she wrote the second one I was so elated. That she's written 10 stories in the verse floors me. I've read everything she's posted, loved most of it so much that I've re-read. She made me like Jennifer Keller and turned me on to straight!Sheppard. (Her Cadman/Sheppard rocks, even if it's not my OTP, McShep.) Her stort stories made me laugh, cry and dream new storylines for myself.
But wait! There's more:There are others that I've come across that I just love, including
ivorygates & her most awesome partner-in-crime fic-writing
synecdochic. My favorite story by Ivorygates is Change Is Only the Beginning, with Danielle Jackson. The Jack/Dani interation is awesome, with movieverse! Jack O'Neill. It's still my favorite genderswap to date, even thought I've got the biggest girl crush on Cammie Mitchell. (Although her Naquadah Magnolias, with Danielle Jackson adopted by the Mitchells is a close second, and might win out if she gets inspired & writes more of it.) Meanwhile, I love the Cammieverse, with Col. Cameron Evangeline Mitchell but my favorite series is Broken Wings with Cameron Mitchell and Jack's clone. I wish we could have had more of the darn cute clone on the show, but at least some fanfic has picked up the ball. Broken Wings makes me laugh, cry and it's SERIOUSLY hot! (And before I read any of her SG-1 fic, I read Freedom's Just Another Word For Nothing Left To Lose & the sequal And The Band's Playing "Hail To The Chief" two positively heartbreaking yet uplifting Atlantis fic about Rodney post-John & Atlantis.
The most awesome Cam & John fic (sometimes with a side of Lorne!) comes from
slybrarian . He's written so very much fic, and the Discontinuity series is HUGE (and awesome)! He's also the one who made me appreciate Lorne/Sheppard with the Dramatic Exit series.
In the QAF Brian & Justin fic, which I was into for quite a while, there's the wonderful Suzvoy (http://www.suzvoy.com/qaf/qaffic.html) (her series AU based in Season 5 was one of the best, ever & she did justice to Alcohol issues) & Besame BJ (http://community.livejournal.com/beyond_besame/) (Snoopylicious!). And Lamardeuse (http://lamardeuse.dreamhost.com/) is the one who got me interested in QAF with the QAF/HP crossover A Taste of Liberty. Lamardeuse is also the one who got me reading and then eventually watching Die Hard 4.
There are a ton more that have written stuff that I keep coming back to & who have introduced me to new fandoms, including Supernatural, NCIS, Num3ers (whose title annoys me to no end!), Boondock Saints, X-Men & Bandom.
Fanfiction has actually turned me back onto the tv shows, and it's all their fault that I had to purchase the series... (QAF, Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis--so worth it!!)
